To analyze to the detail the biological effects of silver nanoparticles, it’s necessary to separate the effects produced due to nanometrical scale length of the particles and the ones produced due to liberated ions. Those ions are present in the initial dispersion of the particles or liberated by the nanoparticles through time.
The main objective of the electrode is to monitor the activity of the liberated ions in the silver nanoparticles presence.
Silver ions are mostly found and analyzed in plating baths.

Reproducibility (precision): ±10% of full scale (calibrated 10 to 1000 mg/L)
Interfering ions: S2- or Hg2+ ions must be absent or in negligible quantities respect Ag+ ion to measure properly.
